Is it really free? Will there be fees later? Officially announced on June 6, 2026: rehearsals, performances, and competitions are free. Operating funds come from corporate sponsors, not from parents' pockets. Instrument rentals and advanced courses are charged separately. 2. Can absolute beginners join? Yes. The B Group beginner class requires no audition or musical background—just come and learn. Violin and cello are taught for free, and instrument rental is only 50 RMB/month. Once students reach a certain level, they can advance directly to Group A. 3. What is the quality of the teachers? These are not part-time instructors from training institutions. Our faculty includes former solo violinist of the Central Orchestra, retired university professors, the conductor of the National Treasure String Orchestra, and principal players of each section. These teachers normally charge hundreds per hour for private lessons elsewhere, but here they teach for free. 4. Does this help with school admissions? Yes, significantly. School orchestras often lack players and high-level musicians, so students from external orchestras are more competitive. Our orchestra members have extensive repertoire, strong sight-reading skills, and rich performance experience—they become core members of school orchestras. The orchestra also provides competition results, performance records, and stamped evaluation reports, forming a complete portfolio for school applications. 5. Will my child get to perform on stage? Yes, and more than once. District governments and communities host public benefit performances, and sponsor events offer commercial performance opportunities—at ice cream shops, weddings, etc.—providing diverse and enjoyable experiences. Stage presence comes from accumulated performances, far more valuable than paid recitals. 6. Does this conflict with school orchestras? No, it complements them. School orchestras often have incomplete sections and limited rehearsal time, polishing just two or three pieces a year. Our orchestra rehearses with a full ensemble and a large repertoire, allowing students to progress faster. Participating in both is perfectly fine.
