From First Lessons to Associate Principal In 1985, Zhang Chunhong received her first cello lessons from Associate Professor Yu Jianzhong, still a child. Seven years later, she entered Xi’an Conservatory of Music to study under Professor Fan Zhigang, and in 1996, she continued her studies in the Orchestral Instruments Department at the Central Conservatory of Music. She has taught at Zhongguancun No. 2 Primary School, Poly WeDo, and other schools, with many students admitted to prestigious institutions like the High School Affiliated to Renmin University and Beijing No. 11 School. She also teaches at university symphony orchestras such as Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Beijing Forestry University, and serves as a judge for special talent admission exams. From the Vienna Golden Hall to the Poly WeDo practice room, she approaches every stage with the same seriousness. A performer who can shine on international stages and also patiently teach children — such players are rare.
