**Performance Career**
Symphony Stages Across Three Continents
Teacher Hao Li’s musical journey began at the Central Philharmonic—the predecessor of the China National Symphony Orchestra and a hallowed ground for Chinese symphonic music. There, as a solo violinist, he experienced the purest era of Chinese symphonic music. In the 1990s, he served as the understudy to Teacher Sheng Zhongguo, undertaking solo responsibilities in major national performances.
He later went abroad, performing as a violinist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia and the Island Symphony Orchestra of Canada, amassing rich performance experience on stages in South and North America. During his time in Colombia, his teaching influence was equally profound—many concertmasters and players in local orchestras were his students.
After returning to China as an expert from Canada, Teacher Hao Li shifted his focus to teaching, using decades of stage experience to nurture the next generation of performers. He has been instrumental in fostering exchanges between the Canadian and Chinese music scenes and serves as a mentor for many students pursuing studies in the United States and Canada, helping them step onto the international stage.

**Teaching Philosophy**
Those Who Have Played Solos Understand Beginners Best
Having stood at the very center of the stage, Teacher Hao Li knows better than anyone how crucial a player’s foundation is. Hand shape, bowing, intonation, rhythm—every detail sets the ceiling for everything that follows. Once a bad habit forms, correcting it is harder than starting from scratch.
That is why he chooses to begin with the most fundamental aspects. He breaks down professional playing techniques into language that children can understand—rigorous without being harsh, patient without being lax. Under his guidance, beginners are not afraid, but they cannot cut corners either.
